King 5 and Northwest Cable News

I had the pleasure of getting the nickel tour at my regional news giant, King 5 (and it’s affiliate, Northwest Cable News) with my professor, Wayne Lynch. Our tour took us into the dark and musky back rooms (not actually dark or musky, but that does make it sound rather ominous, doesn’t it?) of the King Broadcasting corporation where we had the opportunity to see the control rooms in action during the 2009 Vancouver Winter Olympics, witness a live NWCN broadcast, and even sit in the anchor’s chairs of the NWCN anchor-superstars. Check out the gallery below for some super-awesome-tastic photos from our trip, and I apologize in advance for the sappy Facebook-esq photos of my classmates. Things like that just happen.

Serious Internet Technology

In a world of tightening budgets, even the folks at the cutting edge of Internet news distribution rely on some rather dated looking video editing gear to produce media for our Internet consumption. In the background you can see a large swath of the (rather lonely) King 5 news area.
